Our Family Wizard

Frequently I work with divorcing couples or couples post-divorce who are wrestling with the struggles of maintaining two homes for their children.  Keeping up with a school-age child’s sports, activity and social schedule is challenging enough when both parents reside under the same roof and can communicate reasonably well; add to this separate homes, separate rules, and potentially intra-parental conflict, and things get exponentially more difficult.

One tool I recommend to all of my clients is an online scheduling/communication hub, such as that offered by Our Family Wizard.  www.OurFamilyWizard.com.*  For a modest monthly fee, parents can access communication tools such as a central family calendar (no more “you never told me it was parents’ night at school!”) , a central information portal (no more “where are our daughter’s grades for this semester?”), expense tracking, and centralized email exchange portal (no more “I never got that email!”).  Each entry is time stamped and associated with the name of the person who submitted the entry.  Members can also create child accounts and accounts for third parties, such as parent coordinators or therapists, who can access a restricted amount of information, as enabled by members.

Tools such as this can help parents before, during, and after divorce, by removing the manageable communication obstacles in a relationship’s path.  This way, parents are able to focus on  the more important and more challenging part of co-parenting: raising children.

  1. May I simply say what a relief to find someone that genuinely understands what they’re talking about on the net. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people really need to look at this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised you aren’t more popular because you definitely possess the gift.

  2. Thank You. Very Informative.
